Tubularsock was sitting reading the German press and ran across this story. The interesting thing is that Tubularsock’s top floor corner office overlooking Washington D.C. from Oakland, CA is a stones throw from Mountain View as the crow flies.
And it took the Germans to fill Tubularsock in on a local story.
A few side notes. Mountain View is a traffic infested dumpy little town south of San Francisco and for the life of Tubularsock where a view of a “mountain” comes into the picture is beyond me!
Yes, the coast range moves along the coast but “mountain” is an exaggeration to say the least.
That being said Knightscope has in reality created seven K5 robots and four of them have already been ordered for use at a technology company.
A K5 is about as tall as a person and is designed to “act friendly and threatening at the same time”. Kind of like your mother-in-law on Thanksgiving!
These little guys are packed with cameras, microphones, weather sensors, navigation equipment and electric motors which allows a K5 to slide on rollers across the floor or parking lot and evaluate it’s surroundings and they are programmed to detect “abnormal behavior”, sure …….. No, these aren’t the droids you’re looking for …..
According to the U.S. Census there are about a million people that work in sentry type jobs in security companies. K5 can do this type of work for less than half the cost of a living person. Their battery lasts for 24 hours and is programed to go to the charging station when low. Recharge time takes 15 minutes. Hey! Every worker needs a break!
And that is exactly why Tubularsock came up with the idea of unionizing them. That, and the fact that a K5 isn’t armed yet. So to organize them is still safe for Tubularsock. But of course drones weren’t armed when they started out either ……… the possibilities are unlimited!
Just a matter of time …….. and as long as the Grand Jury is filled with BOTS there won’t be any indictment against a K5 either!

Uh…pardon me for saying this, but there’s going to be extreme and massive violence in the U.S. regardless of whether we want it or not. With millions employed in low-wage jobs that a ‘bot’ could easily do and WILL, it’s only a matter of time before ‘human’s are just absolutely NOT necessary. And if anyone has seen the movie, “I, Robot,” starring Will Smith, then you know where all of this is headed and that shit ain’t gonna be nice and helpful. We’re going to get the watered down version first and then they’re gonna let that shit loose in full blast mode.
Anyone for giving up their weapons and ammo, peacefully? Sign here! Otherwise, “hey BOTS! You got work to do!”

Oh, and one more thing. As if this isn’t bad enough, they’ve already got a bot out that looks like a 15 year old teenage girl and can talk to ya. Soon, the ‘bots’ are to take the place of humans for sex. Sigh! Another sign of the times!

Tubularsock didn’t see “I, Robot” but I’ll wait for the movie to unfold in front of my eyes.
At this moment the police helicopters are out in force over the city. When I hear them in this number and this close to the bunker Tubularsock knows that the Ferguson results must have been released.
Tubularsock is psychic ……….. so I know the results without having to check on them.
They ALWAYS go the same way, ALWAYS!
I may wait until morning to read up on the reasoning the Grand Jury used. Maybe I’ll be able to sleep a bit before I become further unhinged!
So, on a “happier” note …….. has anyone figured out what the age of consent is for a 15 year old teenage bot? You know bot sex must be something, all that emotional connection and all ………. maybe our civilization can even become worse!

But on a serious note, we’re coming down to the wire here. It’s gonna get ugly. And since I’m sitting smack dab in the middle of nowhere, if the bunker gets too hot for you Tube, get your family and jump on your bikes and head on over to shelter in my bunker, complete with a pipeline, don’t forget. All the comforts of home, except for the ‘cold’ weather of course. If you need me, send up a flare!
And by all means, keep your head DOWN!! We don’t want you getting ‘brained’ by overly enthusiastic pigs!

A side note: call this hot off the Tubepress but I just received a call that in Oakland the protest over Ferguson has just shut down some freeway exits, fucking cops everywhere and the cop helicopters are everywhere …….. I’m hearing them now even from the bunker! I might just have to get on my bike and ride down town! Cheers!

It all looks like pretty slick marketing to me. Around here they use motion detectors that cost about $100 to accomplish the same purpose. The problem with computerized technology is that it’s always breaking down and needing repair. The other major cost relates to hacking – Anonymous will have a field day with these things. I can see it already.

When it comes to capitalism EVERYTHING is a slick marketing strategy, DrB! What’s needed already are bots that fix bots. We already have bots that are bosses in many work places. And at the post office Tubularsock has a difficult time telling if the clerks aren’t bots already! And if Tubularsock doesn’t look out Shelby will “fix-me-up” with a 15 year old bot!
