TUBEPAPERS heading

Well one thing that Tubularsock has discovered in his Quixote quests, Sancho, is the more it seems to change the more it is just a repeated trick.

So Tubularsock, back in the day ….. 1968, had a friend who was protesting in France and after a major Paris protest he sent Tubularsock these two drawings below.

Recent events in France just reminded Tubularsock of them and so Tubularsock retrieved them from his Archival Library in his top floor corner office in the underground bunker overlooking Washington, D.C. in Oakland, CA.

“Same as it ever was! Same as it ever was”

Tubularsock reminds me of an old friend of my parents. My parent’s friend and I finished their attic and made it into a study and bedroom, when I was in my early twenties. And this friend had an alter ego named Sam. Everytime Frank (the friend) would screw up on a measurement, it would be, “God damn it, Sam, I told you to measure twice, cut once!” or “Jesus Christ, Sam, can’t you get anything right!” It never failed to make me laugh. But then again, I am easy!

Come to think of it, I don’t know if it was you that reminded me of this. It may be that my brain tumor has moved again: “Damn it, Tumor, haven’t I told you to sit still!”

Funny thing sojourner, Tubularsock knows “Sam”. And let me tell you every time Tubularsock cuts twice it was because “Sam” fucked up!
Now brain tumors are an entire different kettle of fish. That’s a bitch. Tubularsock doesn’t have to worry about such things because one has to have a brain to have one ……. Tubularsock does not! However, “sit still”? No, maybe asking it to leave would be a better direction. Anyway, what does Tubularsock know? Thanks for your comment.

  2. France wasn’t the only country experiencing major upheaval in 1968. Mark Kulansky reviews 19 major upheavals in his 2005 book 1968. Besides France and the US, there were major uprisings in Mexico, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Yugoslavia, Romania, Italy, West Germany, East Germany, Spain, UK, Russia, Nigeria, Palestine, Brazil, Ecuador, Chile and Uruguay.

The uprisings in Eastern Europe would lay the groundwork for the collapse of the Soviet empire a generation later. LIkewise the uprisings in Brazil, Ecuador, Chile and Uruguay would have a similar effect in generating movements that would produce left wing governments 20-30 years later.

The reason this stuff never happened in the US, France, Spain, the UK and Palestine is because of the role of western (and Israeli) intelligence agencies infiltrating the grassroots movements that began in 1968 and brutally suppressing them.

1968, damn those were some halcyon and headed days. Haight-Ashbury, Fillmore West, Venice Beach, Union Ballroom, Owsley Stanley, and the finest 1966 Chevelle Malibu SS to have hit the State Street pavement. Those were the days my friend…

Well sojourner …….. no use strugglin’ with memory because it is only present moment that counts the rest doesn’t even exist. There are as many pasts, presents, and futures as there are people. It’s all made up sooooooo maybe it’s the correct time to change your story. Of course, what the fuck does Tubularsock know anyway?

  5. Dayum! You guys are ancient and in your dotage. I’ve never heard of much of anything that you’re referring to. But even in your ‘dotage’ Tube, you’ve still got what it takes to produce excellence. I tip me hat to you!

  6. Tubularsock, A fine albeit painful post, thanks. And re Shelby’s comment, what can we do with these kids today, they ain’t got no respect!

As a fellow ancient, seems to me we’ve had plenty of time for measuring the same old infuriating shit. Could be about time for some cutting. What can they do — starve us or feed us poison? deny us education and health care? lock us up or kick us to the curb? terrorize us yet ignore our needs? kill us or (far worse) make us live through more of this shit? Oh right, they’re already doing all that. Clearly then we don’t have much to lose. So, does anyone know where to pick up a good used guillotine cheap?

And whatever happened to Mary Hopkin anyway? – Linda

Thanks for your comment, Linda. Ahh, youth today, what can you do?

Funny you ask about guillotines on sale. Can’t say for sure if there are any left in stock but Wolfessblog — Guillotine mediocrity in all its forms got a nice one, if Tubularsock remembers correctly, over at DONZO’S GUERRILLA GRAFFIX Guillotine Store and Poster Outlet. Tubularsock doesn’t know the details but Tubularsock was thinking about getting one as a hair trimmer. That could be sticking my neck out.

Mary Hopkin is still singing I believe but not sure. Wasn’t she English? Can’t remember BUT she’s just a google away.
