HUMANITARIANESQUE BUT NOT!

This week the USAID’s “Large shipment of life-saving assistance arrives in Yemen”.

According to its website:

WASHINGTON, D.C. -The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced the arrival of enough wheat to feed more than one million people for two months in Yemen this morning. The wheat shipment from USAID totals 35,800tons and is valued at approximately $21million. It will support the emergency food assistance efforts of the UN World Food Program (WFP).

Wow, $21 million ……. sounds like a lot doesn’t it.

And this week from the U.S. State Department:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. State Department has approved the possible sale to Saudi Arabia of 5.4 billion in additional PAC-3 missiles built by Lockheed Martin Corp., the Pentagon said . . . and $500 million worth of ammunition. (Reuters)

Well it seems to Tubularsock that that $21 million doesn’t seem like very much anymore.

And if you add that in October, 2010 the U.S. provided Saudi Arabia with $60 BILLION worth of arms, the largest arms deal in American history well that $21 million just looks more like chump change now doesn’t it.

Now just a reminder for those who haven’t been awake. Saudi Arabia is blowing the shit out of Yemen and has been for months. And the U.S. is providing all the shit to blow up the shit.

Well it comes down to this, the American backed dictator of Yemen was overthrown by a rebel group called the Houthi and the Houthi are not the guys the U.S. wants to control Yemen and nor do our good friends the Saudis.

So the ONLY solution is to blow the shit out of all the men, women, and children of Yemen.

Are the people of Yemen pro-Houthi or pro-former dictator? Well, who has time to ask.

WE (America) don’t like the Houthi and that’s enough.

Now Tubularsock has given up a long time ago trying to figure out the good-guys from the bad-guys but whether it’s a dictatorship of the Houthi or an American appointed dictator what’s it to those under either dictator.

The most honest thing about all this is the U.S. is not talking up all that bringing democracy to Yemen crap. Tubularsock see that as growth.

But here is where it gets Orwellian.head in hole

The U.N. started on April 17, 2015 an appeal for $274 million (the cost of one helicopter)  to respond to the most pressing humanitarian needs over the following three months in Yemen.

Saudi Arabia IMMEDIATELY volunteered to write a check out for that exact amount. BUT THE AID WOULD COME WITH STRINGS ATTACHED!

And those strings would control who got the aid. Now, in the once upon a time world, humanitarian aid was directed toward civilians who were caught in the middle of a conflict regardless of who they were ……. they were civilians.

But by Saudi Arabia controlling the humanitarian purse they have turned the humanitarian aid into genocide.

As Sheikh alMatari, the head of Yemen’s Rasoul Akram Foundation, an aid organization stated,

“After unilaterally and, let’s be frank, after illegally declaring war on Yemen, (do we dare say preemptive?) the Saudi government wants also to dictate how humanitarian relief is distributed in the very country it is attacking”.

And  Sheikh alMatari continued, “. . . aid funding in relation to Yemen, the U.N. de facto institutionalized aid segregation by allowing humanitarian relief to be conditional to certain criteria: political affiliation and religious orientation.”

As outrageous as this is the United States and the United Nations stands by and allows this genocidal behavior to take place.

Makes Tubularsock wonder whether either of these entities are  worth anything any longer.

    You think?

I just reblogged an excellent post by Take Heart (Linda), and now I am reblogging this as well.

You two keep this up, and I’ll just stop writing and just simply reblog what you guys write!

Thanks sojourner for the reblog. Yeah, we as a country has lost our way sadly and Tubularsock doesn’t see a change of course in the near future.

Tubularsock wouldn’t want you to go too far from your own work but Tubularsock does like Linda work a great deal as well your own. We are all in this together. I guess we each like to swim up stream.

Yes, we are in this together! And I’m glad I’m not alone.

“Swimming up stream” says it all! And I think I need a life jacket at the moment;-)

Tubularsock has just shipped a lifejacket to you sojourner. Just happened that Calvin Cline had them on sale at a deep discount due to a sluggish economy. It may be a sign that you may not be the only one that needs one.

Here is yet another post that will, I’m sure, make many Mericans even more proud, in their “dumbed-down,” dehumanized, “exceptional” state!

  4. Tubularsock, Are we sure there are enough Yemenis left to need our compassionate food aid? We live in such a world, my next question is, what do we/the Saudis really want Yemen for … military bases, oil hubs, black-ops ‘interrogation centers’ or something I haven’t thought of yet? Funny how little most Americans have heard about this … but then it’s NFL draft season, and it’s so hard to stay on top of everything. Thanks for this, just in case my insomnia was slacking off a bit! – Linda

Linda, that is a very good point ……. just how many Yemenis are left? It could be that the Saudis have figured out that you can’t get the latest military hardware from the U.S. until you use up the old stuff so Yemen has become the new White Sands Training Grounds!

Tubularsock has always fought the draft so maybe we could end it for the NFL.

But as for insomnia Tubularsock has always felt that we waste so much time between midnight and 8am …… so keep it up!
      Thanks for the comment.

      • It’s embarrassing — which happens too often when I read your posts — but this may be why we (I) need your news and views! Use up your toys so our ever-generous government will provide new ones? I never thought of it, it’s not how my mind works. As for white sands … the Saudis have leagues and leagues of sand, without genociding the neighbors. But maybe it’s hard to tell how accurate your weapons are without a realistic (human) target?

Well Tubularsock is happy to bring forth news and views that expand the minds of the many and explain the follies of the few. The modern day weaponry of which we speak is so precise, or so they try to convince all of us, that the explosive can hit and blow up a gnat’s ear without killing the gnat. Yet they proceed to blow up the entire city in their gross military logic.

Because weapon development is so rapid many weapons are obsolete before the U.S., by itself, can use it all in time for the new models coming off the showroom floor or showroom sky. What to do, what to do ……..

So we sell it to our current “friend” nation or rag tail group and when they become enemies they are able to attack us with our own weapons which because we have the most modern weaponry we can blow the old shit up thereby killing two birds with one stone. Like so many military plans this looks better on paper than in actuality but who’s looking?

As for Saudis’ Sands, which gives the impression of a Vegas hotel and night club, the Saudis are just practicing the old English idiom “carrying coals to Newcastle” when it comes to sands of their neighbor. It makes the Saudis feel more “Western”. Or so goes Tubularsock’s Theory #8013.

        Cheers, Tube

  5. It’s a simple economic equation: $21 million in arms to the Saudis plus $21 in aid to their enemies equals $41 added to the GDP. With the retail sector collapsing, Obama doesn’t have a whole lot of options.
