Capitalism’s Contribution: looting, lying, and acting obscene

© 2017 Dan Stevenson III

the die is cast
the money on the table
some people may die
is it really that bad
just look at the profit
it’s ours ‘cuz we’re able

it’s only good business
it’s just what we do
if they’re in the way
what are we spoze to do
if we don’t take advantage
we’re all going to lose

it’s there for the taking
the law’s on our side
we made it that way
the game being played
it’s really their fault
if they don’t step aside

sure we’ll help their children
we’ll put them in camps
we’ll do what we can
you must understand
it’s best that you see
we have a smart stance

we’ve done this forever
our heritage, you know
it’s way too important
to just let it go
so call in security
to protect what is so

it is our right
our history complete
we don’t mind doing
what has to be done
until the next time
with a butt of a gun

the damage we do
to land, water, and air
is not of concern or
cause for despair
we donate most heavily
for orphan repair

the profit which is
the ultimate treasure
can be used to buy
all in good measure
the next exploitation
to protect this great nation

sure some have to die
for others to live
but really we’ve found
it’s just like it is
not one thing to worry
or even forgive

so stack up that money
and oxygen tanks
so we can survive
as others all die
‘cause we got the talent
when the earth’s out of balance

yet some keep on yelling
it’s too late to correct
but what do they know
with no portfolio
our investment appreciates
the longer we go

it’s called progress you sillies
you don’t even know that
if you don’t risk
you’re just scaredy-cats
so count yourselves in
all the way to the end

so come on no worries
for what we do know
is dow jones is up
we’ve got money to burn
at least just enough
to cover the earth’s very last turn!

Great poem Tube!! And may I add an oft quoted example of a true capitalist.
If a giant asteroid were about to strike the earth. One large enough to wipe out all life on our planet, the true capitalist would be selling telescopes to spectators. Sorry for a redundant story, but it’s all too true.

Good poem- highlighting the lengths Profit is driving us to destruction.
This is what They Do. Bonus…bonus…bonus.
Apparently Marx wrote “The last capitalist we hang shall be the one who sold us the rope.” and Lennin is supposed to have said ‘When we hang the last capitalist it will be with a rope he sold us”

Welcome WbH and thank you for your comment. Yeah, that bonus issue is something. They’ll even get a bonus for driving the company out of business it appears.

Marx and Lenin were a regular comedy team but like real comedy it’s true. There are so many examples. One Tubularsock likes best is the fact that the U.S. spent years “protecting” ourselves from Vietnam and lost but now we are selling them munition. And few even see the humor. Oh well.

I guess Vietnam is now run by what the munition vendors deem as Pragmatic Communists; it makes for better copy on the streets.
Give the vendors and their supporters a few years and Vietnam will be a beacon of Capitalism.
Meanwhile the One Thousand Year old Vietnamese culture moves on its own way. Chinese, French, Americans, they come, they go.

    Tube,

    You’re a poet,
And I didn’t even know it!

Yes sir, Tube, this is the American nightmare in prose: “Nothing personal, it’s just business!” Just like the capitalist-pigs’ other cop outs, Caveat Emptor and Eminent Domain:

“We told you to beware before you buy something, so if you get fucked, it’s your fault, not ours. And that land you are in hock for, well that land will never belong to you, it’s another one of our dirty little secrets/tricks. But don’t be mad, it’s nothing personal. It’s just business. And besides, we perpetrate this shit on everyone, not just you. We’re an equal opportunity criminal enterprise/fucker!”

This is why I just love hearing all the neolibs screaming fascism now that the Donald is pres. This piece of shit hell-hole has been a fascist rogue-state since November 22nd, 1963, right after Lee Harvey DID NOT shoot JFK!

You have got that right sojourner. And our new “Presidential Show” has almost driven Comedy Central’s ratings down because they just can’t outdo Orange Tweet in humor! Makes Tubularsock want to get out the flag and burn it again. Thanks for your comment.

Trump is fucking insane, he’s a megalomaniac to the extreme. And that’s why, I believe, the powers that be allowed him to get in the whitehouse. Trump’s an idiot business type, and so easily manipulated. What better stooge to choose as a scapegoat, when all of this shit comes a tumbling down?

They actually bailed out Hillary, she’s just too fucking stupid to know it!

Okay, all together now: God bless America…

You bet… That’s it, say it loud! Amazing so few can see through this blatant one-sided and sick game, or care to. But as long as they get enough toys to play with, and get to keep their guns, I guess they’re happy enough and when they end up on the street they’re too stoned to know what it means to care about anything. Ain’t capitalistic democracy just grand.

Gandhi had an answer: satyagraha or non-violent non-cooperation. WE stop believing, that’s the first move in the new game. Then we deliberately, systematically, stop cooperating in every way possible and imaginable. I became vegetarian. I boycott Amazon. I’m typing this on a Ubuntu/Linux based computer. I volunteer where help is needed. I control my temper on the road and only drive when necessary. I don’t vote. I don’t do religion, or believe in any god. I don’t do demonstrations. When an argument appears in the offing over some silly thing, I chose to be “wrong” and smile it away. You’d be amazed at the countless things we can do to counter our oppression. The point is not about seeing how effective we are, it’s in knowing in our core being that at all times we are rebels, non-conformists and perhaps anarchists as well. The point is to NOT be normal without raising any fuss or drawing attention to ourselves in the being of it. Does it work? I’m happy, healthy, no longer worried about anything. I sleep like a log (and believe me, a log knows how to sleep!) and I don’t do any drugs or doctors: no stress, you see? “There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof is death.” That is the way of the System. It is avoidable.

I hear you, Leslie! This is the question that no one ever wants address?

In order for anything to be done about it, there must be some kind of consensus among the people who see all of this shit for what it truly is. But therein lies the real problem, there is no consensus among us. There is only division, even among those of us who see this evil running rampant.

Without some kind of unity, purpose, careful planning, and a commitment to see it through to the end, no matter what cost, talking will be the only thing taking place.
