You know, there is nothing new about knowing that the world we live in is BAT SHIT CRAZY.
It really amazes Tubularsock that we as a species has survived this long. And sure, Tubularsock isn’t expecting it to last much longer because once the bees and the butterflies go under the only pollination that will take place is humans pissing on plastic flowers and proclaiming that it’s working!
Oh well.
We listen to Fuckless-Orange-Dump tell us that Kim Jong Un had nothing to do with the torture and death of Otto Warmbier and that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman did not order the chopping up of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Fuckless-Orange-Dump IS REALLY that stupid!
But that doesn’t really tell you just how low this all can go. You’d better be seated for this one!
World’s Top Bridge Player Flunks Drug Test
Geir Helgemo, the No. 1 bridge player in the world, has been suspended after failing a drug test at a tournament in Orlando last fall.
What the fuck?
Yep, somebody has the job of testing card players for drug use. And the drugs found were NOT “. . . performance enhancing in bridge.”
So why?
Because the Bridge Federation belongs to the International Olympic Committee and adheres to World Anti-Doping Agency rules.
AND RULES ARE RULES even if they don’t apply to the circumstances!
Seems strange to Tubularsock that when it comes to torture and murder, which do break some laws themselves, they are held to a lower “legal” standard than Bridge and unlike Bridge the level of compliance is just a bit lax.
But Bridge competition is well protected! Feel safer?
And rest assured that insanity in an insane world is “normal”.

Bridge Under Troubled Water… A much more appropriate title for our current reality. Yes,civilization is going down and I’m not lifting one little finger to delay the inevitable. I watch the rank and file youth dragging they asses in torn jeans, (not from work,heaven forbid!) in and out of their “schools” and on the streets and lining up for their feeding at McDonalds and I think, why the hell should I care? At their age we were fighting for something – anti-war, environment, housing for the poor, whatever. We held sit-ins,rallies and demonstrations and we got a lot of shit thrown at us and look where that got us. But these namby-pamby plugged in generations of do-nothings… they don’t deserve anything better than what they’re getting. Some of them believe that if they take a day out of school to go confront some has-been old hag-nag in Congress or other House of Ill Repute, they’ve changed the world, well fine, “Believe what you will (says my hero Harry Crumb) but don’t believe it here!”

Now Sha’Tara all you say has truth to it however if you look at the followers of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and those of Bernie Sanders your evaluation won’t hold up.
Some youth in each generation don’t account for much but those that start to awaken do much to attempt change.
And kicking old “hag-nag” did make Tubularsock’s day.

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head (hopefully without your thumb in between) by mentioning followers. That’s what tells me it isn’t going anywhere. I don’t remember us having leaders or supporting any particular wannabe elected whomever. We were too antiestablishmentarian to fall for that crap. If we followed anything, it was ideals. If we fought for anything it was ideals. Because of that “ideals” were kicked out of all curriculae and made persona-non-grata. Bernie Sanders I remember as a turn coat. As for the other one with the mouth, she’s just another politicians. You still believe that politicians can change their stripes? I don’t. Following after politicians is admitting that you don’t want real change, just a bit of façade fixing and thank you very much. These people are just continuing the same old, same old, believing that changing faces in the duopoly can make a difference. Sure, as much as trading in your Nissan for a Toyota will change your commute time.

Sha’Tara, Tubularsock agrees and does not have high hopes that any change is even possible. However shifting the paradigm in the direction that is suggested by current Bernie and AOC is better than nothing.
Tubularsock agrees that we were heavy into “ideals” but those ideals needed an organized power base to grow and that is difficult without some continued structure which usually becomes an “establishment” itself thus defeating the “ideals”.
Tubularsock is not a big fan of politicians of any stripe but what exists currently especially with AOC is at least so far something Tubularsock would like to see developed.
Of course, “there is many a slip between the cup and the lip” so Tubularsock is not holding his breath.

Well, Tubularsock agrees but then thinking again well, Bridge players have to dope themselves to know the rules of Bridge- Four players in two partnerships that bid for the right to name a trump suit and score point for tricks . . .

What a coincidence!
Just this morning, over breakfast, after a long pause in an otherwise lighthearted exchange, my wife suddenly knitted her brows and seemingly out of the blue exclaimed: “The world is REALLY insane! No, but really, really fucked-up! I mean, “they” torture and murder people! By the thousands! Even by the millions! And for what??!!”
Usually, and only because she is my wife, I contradict her.
But this time she had caught me completely unprepared, not to mention that I was still in my morning stupor, and all I could muster as a reply was, “Yep.” I had no other words to encompass how really fucked-up it all really is, and couldn’t bring myself to contradict the enormity of that fact.
And now I’m reading about the No. 1 bridge player in the world being busted for doping, and not even for anything enhancing in a way pertinent to his game.

My mother routinely took speed before she played in bridge tournaments because it enhanced her performance. Glad to here they have finally cleaned the game up.

And yet, Tubularsock has heard that a Bridge game can take a long time and a Bridge tournament, a near lifetime.
But Tubularsock just can’t get behind any game that has a “trump” in it.

The rigid bridge rules sound just like the military. You know how you’re supposed to just blindly *follow orders* no matter what, even if you know it’s wrong? Inflexibility=death (real or symbolic)

Tubularsock has never been a big fan of arbitrary rules and regulations but when Tubularsock was told by his mother NOT to step out in front of a moving bus ……. Tubularsock took heed.
As for military thinking (an oxymoron if there ever was one) Tubularsock just never would fit in!

BTW, did we ever find out what Geir’d been taking? Red Bull? Clariton PM? Ecstasy? Mushrooms????? Ecstasy MIGHT speed up the thought process and help, so couldn’t be anything like that. Mushrooms would definitely distract him and probably help him lose. So I wonder what it was…….?

Tubularsock would not negate Mushrooms. Psilocybin shrooms are magic and explains that faraway look in his eyes. Bridge is like golf, FUCKING BORING!
It would take shrooms to cross that Bridge in the yellow brick road.
Of course, it is only a Tubularsock theory.
So feel free to experiment on your own and as soon as Tubularsock comes off the ceiling and puts his shoes back on we can discuss this further.
