Plato claimed Democracy killed Socrates, said Will Durant, author of The Story of Philosophy, back in 1935. It was required reading for one of my college courses, a couple of generations later, but ideas like those of Socrates and Plato live on. They have had time-independent trajectories in the minds of humankind.
I don’t believe in genocide, either. Nor do I support those who do. Humankind does make lots of mistakes, but we continue to try to get it right, by whatever means. Wisdom hides in unexpected places, and crops up where you don’t necessarily look for it.

Hahaha. I tried to start a fire in my wood stove last night, to deal with some of this humidity, but it was so damp that I couldn’t get even that fire started. I try to keep my burnables as dry as possible.
