I think the first step is to disarm them. Patrol cops don’t carry guns in Britain or New Zealand. Both countries have an armed defender squad – a kind of SWAT team – for dealing with the occasional criminal who is armed and dangerous.

Well it is interesting that the Chinese have recently started to have their cops armed and guess what ……. the cops have gone ape-shit killing people. Oh well.
Your idea won’t work very well in the U.S. because we believe that every Tom, Dick, and Harry should be carrying a gun. Even rapid fire assault weapons. Just maybe a buffalo will stampede the freeways of Los Angeles …… like it could happen and we’ll be ready.Hey, it’s a John Wayne thang!

Meaningless, useless and never covered my Black ass to begin with so why should I think that anything has changed? I don’t! It’s just more of the same. …and people say, “Just wait, things will get better, maybe not in YOUR life time, but eventually.” Problem is, they been saying that shit for over 200 years and it ain’t come to pass yet? PFFTTT!

So Tubularsock seems to be picking up the vibe that you, Shelby, have some opinions about justice and domestic tranquility within the “perfect Union”. If you’d just take your frustrations out on buying shit at WalMart you’d feel more American and you in turn would be helping the Walton family this holiday season. Looking back, here in the US, you can conclude that things have improved in many areas, not the least, the rights of minority citizens. But, and it is a big but, the militarization of the police, combined with the hundreds of millions of guns loose in the land is a big, big problem. There is a solution, too bad it is beyond our ability to bring it about – Repeal the 2nd Amendment and remove guns from our communities.

Thanks Charles for taking the time to comment. Tubularsock would say that it all depends on what one calls “things have improved” for minority citizens. Or for the population in general if you throw in the Patriot Act. Before removing the Second Amendment Tubularsock would suggest relieving fear from the population. Why does anyone really want a gun? Yet huge numbers of people have them. WHY? And just what makes them afraid and who is permoting the fear?
