  1. I first saw the word “grok” in the book “Stranger in a Strange Land”. I’ve found it a most useful word, but I fear others don’t “grok” the implications.

    To me, the word means a gut level understanding of a situation or event, almost an identification with it.

    I don’t know if author Heinlein would agree, but in any case, the book made a powerful impression on me (twice). I would recommend it to anyone.

    Also. I grok your disgust with the US’ misplaced priorities.

      From Tubularsock’s understanding Heinlein coined the term “grok” and it first appeared in his book, Stranger in a Strange Land.

      Be that as it may, it certainly helps to describe Tubularsock’s VOLCANIC posture toward our lost and misguided population.

      Change can happen but it takes awakening.
