This turns out to be a really important Maori concept called Tūrangawaewae.
Literally tūranga (standing place), waewae (feet), it is often translated as ‘a place to stand’. Tūrangawaewae are places where we feel especially empowered and connected. They are our foundation, our place in the world, our home.
Thanks DrB. In truth it is important to all peoples. Western Civilization seems to have forgotten the fundamentals of life. We spend a great deal of time attempting to package and sell what is. And the outcome has been the loss of who we are ……….. and you know what they call people that are split!
Good one.
