Tube heading Neon 2013

Have you ever been on a city bus and have a guy come up to you and run a story about  how his mother has just got out of the hospital and she is lying in the gutter and all he needs is a dollar-fifty-eight to have enough money to get her a cab and take her home?

Well, it’s called jive and it appears from the outside that Obummer is rather persuasive in using it. At least with Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune, who met with the president before his speech at Georgetown University.

In an email Tubularsock received from the Sierra Club, Brune wrote that “Obama said the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline will be a no-go if the State Department determines that it will lead to an increase in greenhouse gas emissions. After rejecting KXL, he will need to keep taking bold steps like ending Arctic drilling, mountaintop removal, and protecting our public lands from mining and drilling.”

Now what is WRONG with Obummer’s statement, “The Keystone XL tar sands pipeline will be a no-go if the State Department determines that it will lead to an increase in greenhouse gas emissions.”

Got it yet?

Well Brune didn’t get it because he goes on to say that “After rejecting KXL . . .”!

Obummer NEVER said he was rejecting the Keystone XL pipeline!

Obummer said, “The Keystone XL tar sands pipeline will be a no-go if the State Department determines that it will lead to an increase in greenhouse gas emissions.”

And in there lies the jive …………

When the State Department weighed in earlier this year, it largely found that approving the Keystone project would have little impact on climate change.

Remember it was the State Department who hired Environmental Resources Management to do the environmental impact report and ERM is tied into The American Petroleum Institute a lobbyist mouthpiece for BIG OIL!

ERM also has ties with TransCanada and what you have here is the oil industry writing the environmental impact report for the State Department and the State Department approving it and saying the project isn’t a harm to the environment as the oil leaks rise above their $500 shoes!

Now in his speech Obummer stated that, “Our national interest will be served only if this pipeline does not significantly exacerbate the climate problem.” And yet, in the State Department’s environmental impact assessment draft, it indicated that even if the president denies a permit to TransCanada to build the project, the oil in Alberta may be shipped to the U.S. by rail, leading to comparable emissions.

Tube getting small

So like Tubularsock has said before The KeystoneXL pipeline will be approved by Obummer! THIS IS A GIVEN!

Somehow the Progressives and liberals who still back Obummer don’t seem to get it.

Yes, Obummer is our historic first Black President but being Black and being a step-and-fetch-it-boy to the White power structure doesn’t bode well for real transformation and true progress for any of us.

In America today there are many strong Black leaders with integrity that warrant our respect and support. Tavis Smiley, Cornel West, Jeremiah Wright to name my favorites but when it comes to integrity, strength, and leadership Obummer is a shameful example of Black America! Or any American for that matter!

Tube on moon heading 2013

There was a protest yesterday, Thursday the 20th, in San Francisco and Tubularsock knew it was coming but still got up late and had to double time to get to the appointed staging area which was just east of the Golden Gate Bridge. And of course it was up hill!

So Tubularsock hopped upon his old heavy two-wheeler and started to pedal in the direction of San Francisco. The rally was to start around 11:30-ish so leaving Oakland at 10:15 should pretty much work if I pedaled rapidly. But this was my old heavy two-wheeler and the gear cable is broken so my range of gear choices ………. forget it!

So rather than zip to BART (our rapid transit system) I clanked along and caught the train at the Lake Merritt Station and was whisked under the Bay to the SF Embarcadero Station right at the foot of the Ferry Building.

Bounding out of the BART elevator which has a speed very close to my old heavy two-wheeler grinding up hill I jumped on my trusty steed and rode up Market Street made a left at Embarcadero and headed for the Golden Gate Bridge.

Well now, this was a Thursday around 10:40 am and the Embarcadero is a rather popular place and the fossil fuel driven vehicles were moving as crazy as usual in order to move a 150 lb person in a 2200 lb steel/plastic box. But Tubularsock rides the City a lot so I’m used to it. Cabs think they own the road, buses think they own the road, commercial trucks think they own the road, cars think they own the road and some cyclists think they own the road. When Tubularsock pedals his two wheeler he KNOWS he doesn’t own the road and so far he is living proof!

Zipping (in my mind only) past Pier 39 a mall-type-tourist-trap selling authentic San Francisco keepsakes made in China and passing Fisherman’s Wharf where they haven’t seen a fishing fleet in thirty years (if you’re into mercury-laden fish of all kinds, well be my guest) I pedaled toward the Marina Green.

Moving along the beach front trail dodging rent-a-bike tourists Tubularsock finally dismounts the old heavy two-wheeler and double locks it so it might be there on my return just short of Fort Point. From there it’s a steep climb up to the Golden Gate Bridge. It was 11:25.

The climb up from the waters edge to the staging area is a bitch but after a rapid bike ride it adds to the endurance challenge.

Arriving at the staging area fully exercised at 11:37 ….. the first announcement ……. there is a delay in the protest. The NATIONAL NURSES UNITED protest against the  Keystone XL pipeline was delayed because the bus loads of nurses were tied up in traffic! I love irony like that!

And then the first photo I took was that of an oil tanker passing by in the Bay right behind the banners-of-protest against the Keystone XL pipeline. Irony abound, Tubularsock knew that this was going to be a great day.

Tanker oil protest

After the nurses arrived in buses they joined the rally at the staging area for the protest and after speeches and music proceed to march across the Golden Gate Bridge. About 1500 protester took part in the march and they were very dedicated in their convictions of the health hazards created by the Keystone XL.

Nurse protest XL pipeline

Now Tubularsock has been to a multitude of protest in his time but this particular one was focused upon the HEALTH HAZARDS of the XL pipeline and oil refining in general.

And that perspective always seems to get lost in the dialog when discussing BIG OIL.

A fun side note: In the recent Mayflower oil pipeline spill an independent air sampling conducted in the weeks following the spill identified some 30 toxic chemicals. And remember inhaling contaminated air is just one way to be exposed to chemicals from oil. Hundreds of families’ health were affected in Mayflower and the surrounding area.

And compensations doesn’t bring back your health!

Now you know that Tubularsock knows that the XL pipeline will be approved by our step-and-fetch Obummer but my hat goes off to the NATIONAL NURSES UNITED and all others who stand up and say NO to the madness of BIG OIL.

To the property owners that had their land taken from them through eminent domain by a foreign corporation so as to run a private pipeline through that land is shocking to say the least. But PROFIT BEFORE PEOPLE is the capitalist creed.

And even though Tubularsock has predicted the outcome he never is going to stand by and not at least stand up and say NO.

And I urge everyone to do the same.

tar sands copy

On my return trip back to Oakland Tubularsock had to weave his old heavy two-wheeler through a group of homeless veterans with their cardboard signs asking for help at the entrance to BART.

You know, I just couldn’t help but wonder just how many people have been fucked up because of this incessant lust for oil.

The “fiscal cliff”?

I love these made up terms. “Fiscal Cliff” is just a bull shit phrase. There is not a “fiscal cliff”! It is all make believe. It’s kind of like the tooth fairy on steroids.

Every once in awhile a group of industrial nations get together and decide to “forgive” some African nations’ debt because the nation can’t pay it off. So everyone signs a piece of paper usually with several pens and much fanfare. The result? A clean slate.

Now it’s true that the end result is that the industrial nations sell off the natural resources of the country to “private enterprise” and walk away with everything and the people remain poor but they were poor already so nothing changes for them. BUT the rip off is only because of greed NOT NECESSITY.  No one ever thinks about sharing the spoils with the people.

You see ……… it’s all made up. Debt doesn’t exist, money doesn’t exist, VALUE is made up in an arbitrary system.  It’s not real! Nor is this “fiscal cliff” real.

Who do we all “owe” this money to? Bankers? Other governments? Friends of a friend that your brother’s bookie knows? Who?

All of this is based on agreement not on anything physical. So why don’t we default? That would surely change the structure. Who would come after us? Oh gosh, Moody’s would devalue our rating? Give Tubularsock a fucking break.

Now think! If you took a French postage stamp in the U.S. and put it on your envelope to send your letter to France it would be returned. And the same goes if you reverse this process from France. Why? Agreement. A French stamp can come from France to the U.S. and be delivered and a U.S. stamp can go to France and be delivered. It’s the same distance, it’s the same envelope, it’s the same delivery. BUT it is not within the agreement!

Agreement. Simple.

You see the stamp or the money or the debt or the value of anything is all based on AGREEMENT. And the agreement is arbitrary. So even the agreement doesn’t exist.

It’s a moving target.

So let’s agree to excuse all debt and start new.

Wow. Now that was easy.

You’re scared aren’t you. What would happen to “my wealth”? You say.

Gosh. I really hate to break this to you BUT YOU DON”T HAVE ANY!

No, THEY told you you did but you don’t.

Think. Yesterday your house was worth $555 thousand but today it’s worth $200 thousand. What changed? Your house is the same. It has the same windows and doors.

The property it’s on is still the same. But your “wealth” has diminished. And this all happened while you were watching the Big Game on TV.

What happened?

The agreement changed. Why? BECAUSE IT’S ARBITRARY!

Same goes for the “value” of your money, your “retirement”, your “social security”.

You were lead to believe it was there for you. IT ISN’T!

So what can you do?

Well,

  1. watch more football
  2. burn your house down
  3. start buying guns and artillery in large amounts for your neighborhood
  4. learn survivalist skills at you local senior center
  5. take a bomb making class at you’re local google app store
  6. meditate then go out and kill
  7. smoke a little Afghan hash (I only include this idea so when you do any of this above the press can link it to marijuana use. All evil stems from marijuana use according to the press.)
  8. Just start blowing shit up!

Now don’t you just feel better?

But really, what can one do?

Well there is only one way to bring down a system.

NO! Voting is for wimps!

Guerrilla warfare. It’s the only way. The Vietcong won against the French and the Americans in Viet Nam. Al Qaeda won in Iraq and Afghanistan against the U.S. and NATO.

In both cases the Imperialist forces were technologically more advanced but they retreated.

Well, the American worker can bring down the corporate infrastructure the same way.

The worker as guerrilla ……… limitless!

Just be creative and good luck.
