POLITICAL PROPHECY
As usual, Tubularsock was minding Tubularsock’s own business while sitting in Tubularsock’s top floor corner office in Tubularsock’s underground bunker that overlooks Washington, D.C. (see Bunker Tour).
And through the grape vine the following information was passed along after Tubularsock’s second glass of wine.
It pertains to Octavia Butler who was a Black visionary and a novelist as well and she put forth some excellent thoughts that apply today more than ever even though she died in 2006.
Ruminate on this gem,
“To be led by a coward is to be controlled by all that the coward fears.
To be led by a fool is to be led by the opportunists who control the fool.
To be led by a thief is to offer up your most precious treasures to be stolen.
To be led by a liar is to ask to be told lies.
To be led by a tyrant is to sell yourself and those you love into slavery.”
That pretty much covers most of the Presidents of the United States and is even more poignant at this moment in time.
But the REAL thought provoker for Tubularsock is this statement that encapsulates our present moment.
“When vision fails Direction is lost.
When direction is lost Purpose may be forgotten.
When purpose is forgotten Emotion rules alone.
When emotion rules alone,
Destruction… destruction.”
Tubularsock is sure you have noticed that WE as a nation HAVE NO VISION.
Trump wants to take the nation to the brink of destruction
AND
Biden wants to take us BACK to the same economic and foreign affair policies that lead the nation to even consider Trump.
And not to beat a dead horse,
WE as a nation HAVE NO VISION.
So here we are floundering and why is that?
Well Tubularsock has thought long a hard about our predicament and it really comes down to this ……… it is not the leaders that are the problem.
The leaders are just the reflection of those who put them in office!
THE PROBLEM IS US! And the problem exists because the citizens don’t take responsibility and rather than DEMAND good leadership we acquiesce to the default position …….. “the lessor of the two evils” AND THAT IS WHAT WE GET!
In Octavia Butler’s last novel published in 1998, Parable of the Talents, she introduced a situation that occurs in 2032 where a Black woman protagonist, Lauren Olamina, located in Northern California had to provide refuge for outcasts facing persecution after the election of an ultra-conservative president who vows to “make America great again.” And President Jarret’s reign of terror and oppression targets a minority religious faction led by a young black woman that Olamina was protecting.
Interesting, yes?
Remember that it was Ronald Reagan that coined the slogan “make America great again” back in 1980 and it is possible that Butler just projected this future President basing him on what she was seeing during the Reagan Administration.
LET Alzheimer RULE!
OR just maybe by 2023 the way things are going, none of this will really matter because
“When emotion rules alone,
Destruction… destruction.”
What me worry?

You are NOT being followed even if you are hearing footsteps behind you. Just the wind, perhaps.

Wow—Tube! Pretty heavy stuff. If only our political leaders had half the vision that Octavia had.I myself have often thought of going to live in Tahiti. It might be far enough away to avoid Covid 19; it’s always summer, and they make a mean Mai Tai. Care to join me?

Ahhh Batt, Tahiti you say. You are aware that Tubularsock speaks Mai Tai, right?

Tube—Let’s go! And if Trump tries to follow us there, we’ll have Captain Bligh blast him out of the water!

i blame it on the steady diet of junk food, Tube. If Americans started eating real food, I think they could start to think more clearly.

Tubularsock agrees DrB as long as the “real food” has a plastic coating painted over it for the first dozen meals or so to help with the detox and avoid the bends.

Shiver my timbers indeed. We could escape from Trump at Tahiti because I don’t think he can find it on the map. And if that didn’t work, we could do as Fletcher Christian did, go live on Pitcairn Island. There’s a lot of irony, satire, humor,, invective, and yes, even truth, that goes on in this blog. But isn’t it sad to even have to talk of leaving one’s country. That ain’t the way it’s supposed to work.

Well leaving one’s country may be better than, as the indigenous peoples discovered, being killed off their land and ending up with even their traditional name changed to “Indians”.
Being named from the mistake made by the “White man” being on the wrong continent.
How’d you feel then, kemosabe? (“That ain’t the way it’s supposed to work.”)

Ohhhhh, let Tubularsock guess. And it couldn’t happen to a better country.
Run around the world like a SHIT country and finally the chickens come home to roost.
The U.S. has been headed for this for a long time.
THE TIME IS NEAR!
