Tubularsock was ask by the blog site Deconstructing Myths to contribute an article to their Mic check guest blogger series.

The opportunity is simple: To open information up to a broader audience than Tubularsock presently has and to present that information within a forum of enlightened and creative people .

Deconstructing Myths is the creation of Jeff Nguyen, a multi-talented  fellow with the stated goal of  “. . . shed[ing] light on some of the important issues of our time.” And to find “collective solutions” to the problems found in our world today.

But the largest focus of Jeff’s work to is “. . . to deconstruct the myths many of us have been raised on through the powerful influence of the media and teachings of the dominant culture.”

That works for Tubularsock!

So the bottom line is simple …………. to read this Tubularsock blog post you too will have to travel to:          http://deconstructingmyths.com/

And I want to thank Jeff for this great opportunity ………… I am sure all of you will agree, “Tubularsock needs all the help he can get!”

Now let Tubularsock go way out on a limb here only because Tubularsock always likes to be closest to the new leaves.

Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, the only American soldier held prisoner in Afghanistan, was freed by the Taliban.

The deal was simple: Five Tortured Afghan detainees from the U.S. torture-prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, for One not-tortured American soldier. Cool!

Now, the limb part, is Tubularsock is making a big assumption here. And that assumption is that the Taliban DIDN’T torture Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.

Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is still under a cloud from his departure from the ranks back in 2009 because the circumstances surrounding Bergdahl’s capture remain something of a mystery.

Some have speculated that he willingly walked away from his unit but Tubularsock has one of those Tubularsock hunches that the Sargent was lit on a combination of alcohol and Afghan Gold and just found himself captured ……… bummer.

Tubehuka

Now Tubularsock can hear you doubters, asking how would Tubularsock KNOW the obvious. Come now, really? Let us see ………

But the bigger the bull-shit the less likely we’ll ever know and here it comes from the Commander-in-Chief himself ………. Bergdahl’s recovery “. . . is a reminder of America’s unwavering commitment to leave no man or woman in uniform behind on the battlefield.”

Aren’t we so fucking noble!

It could be that on that Memorial Day visit Odroner made to Afghanistan to outline the direction his administration will be taking in that war that they just needed one more solider to be withdrawn from the forever battle and so they worked out this deal because they thought 22,200 withdrawn troops looked better from a PR perspective than 22,199.

And it’s not the 9,800 troops that are going to stay there that you should be looking at anyway. They aren’t worth shit.

What you should be looking at is the number of mercenaries/contractors that will be remaining. Most American still don’t understand that removing troops does not reduce exposure and death to the Afghan people. That’s if the American public cares about that anyway. Using contractors to supply or enhance weapons is not unusual. But expeditionary warfare, stabilization and reconstruction operations, and intelligence services are tasks that most Americans believe are the sole job of the government or the military. It’s not. It’s all about privatization and profit. NOT ending the conflict.

That is why it doesn’t matter how many Taliban and remnants of al-Qaida are killed. There are ALWAYS more. And in many cases we supply THEM with weapons and training as well. Constant war requires it!

In fact according to a report by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan (SIGAR), an auditing agency created by Congress to provide oversight on government spending in Afghanistan between 2002 and 2013, almost 70% of the 4 billion dollars spent by the State Department for “rule-of-law” projects, like training and equipping the Afghan police force went to one corporation …. Dyncorp.

Dyncorp is known for it’s well-documented history of corruption investigations and subpar performance and yet the governments contracts flow in regardless of the fact that in 2010 the inspector general for Iraq  along with the State Department found that Dyncorp could not account for $1 billion spent training the Iraqi police force.

Oh well, business is business.

Now the exchange deal went down in Qatar. The same little country where we are currently “training” fighters to over throw Syria. Sweet.

But this wasn’t the first time the U.S. dealt with the Taliban on this exchange. In 2011 a deal was being worked out but in early 2012 Sen. Diane Feinstein made the negotiations public because in Congress, there was bipartisan opposition to any release of Guantanamo prisoners.

This all changed because of a small change in the Fiscal Year 2014 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which passed last December, made it only a requirement that the Defense Secretary notify Congress when releasing Guantanamo prisoners.

Before that change, Congressional sign off on any Guantanamo releases would have been needed but they gave up that power either knowingly or not. Depending on which of the Congressional members actually read what they were passing.

But now they can bitch but say they are powerless!

Now the Five Tortured Afghan detainees from the U.S. torture-prison at Guantanamo are, of course, “the worst of the worst” and are Taliban commanders. The deal requires that they can not leave Qatar for a year after their release. Tubularsock feels better all ready.

And the great thing …….. none of them hold a grudge or anything, right?

Ahhh, Oh John. Excuses’ me John!

Once again, Tubularsock is getting confused. You mean to tell Tubularsock, John ….. that a country just can’t go into another country with a preemptive strike?

Damn! Tubularsock was just warming up to that entire concept and now it’s called “an incredible act of aggression”?

Wow, maybe Tubularsock was correct in his “Old-Think”. When an-attack-on-a-sovereign-nation was considered WRONG!

Oh well. These are modern times ……… it is just so difficult to keep up with all the definitions.

“Fearing that Europe’s borders were being rewritten by force, world leaders rushed to find a diplomatic solution to reverse what had already happened on the ground: Russia captured the Black Sea peninsula (Crimea) on Saturday without firing a shot.” (AP)

Maybe that’s the problem ……… “without firing a shot” ……..

When we hit Baghdad we “shocked and awed them” and the Russian took Crimea without firing a shot …….. what the fuck is wrong with the Russians! There is a certain protocol when one preemptive strikes. Damn Russians!

And Obomber talked with Putin for 90 minutes and told him of his “DEEP CONCERN” over, “Russia’s clear violation of Ukrainian sovereignty.”

And the best part is Obomber’s warning that Russia’s “. . . continued violation of international law will lead to greater political and economic isolation.”

Ahhh, international law?

Oh, we are respecting international law again?

Bring the drones home?

Wow, things are improving after-all.

And what is this bull shit that the Associated Press story intimated? “Fearing that Europe’s borders were being rewritten by force” now what in the fuck is that about …….

Some kind of AP dream world? Borders HAVE ALWAYS been drawn by fat-old-white-men who have no knowledge about what they are cutting and slicing up except their self or nationalist interests! WTF? Just look at Africa or Asia for your examples.

OH PLEASE, Tubularsock is sorry to break this to you but BORDERS ARE ARBITARILY made up, PERIOD!

So the U.S. is jumping up and down about Russian activity in the Ukraine and the way Russia is stifling democracy but who has caused all this unrest?

Well, come to find out that western NGO’s with the backing of the U.S. Government are involved in what they call regime change in the Ukraine. You know, bringing “democracy” to the people along with American capitalism and American influence.

So who is causing Ukrainian unrest? The United States ……… such the surprise.

And guess who is offering up economic assistance “of a major sort” to Ukraine? Well John Kerry says ……… the United States. Now aren’t we grand!

Kerry was all over Sunday interview programing. Enough that Tubularsock would have been looking for ANY football game to watch if he had a TV. And Tubularsock hates fucking football!

Kerry was on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” NBC’s “Meet the Press” and ABC’s “This Week.”

Yes, all maimed stream press outlets to be sure ……..

But Tubularsock finds hope in all this. It gives all those dumb fucks in the think tanks new room to regurgitate all that Cold War shit they know so well.

You know, bolster the missile defense systems, potential U.S. budget cuts to Army units based in Germany also could be slowed, to prevent a catastrophic erosion of stability and democracy from creeping across Europe and the White House may have to abandon the policy shift to Asia — its attempt to boost America’s military, diplomatic and economic presence there — to refocus on Russia’s threat.

The Russians move to protect THEIR interests and all of a sudden this means “a catastrophic erosion of stability and democracy creeping across Europe” who is kidding who?

Yet, Tubularsock isn’t scared ……… I’m going to go out and buy Pussy Riot’s new album. That way I’ll be ready for the Russian take-over!

Well Tubularsock was just wrapping up his thoughts for another freedom loving night in the United States of America.

So, I ran through my YouTube review because it’s easy.

All the video about cats were all in order.

Sports all cool.

Big tits were exposed as ever.

Monster Trucks running over shit, check!

Then Tubularsock thought he’d check on Syria.

Screen Shot 2013-09-02 at 10.14.48 PM

WOW! I GUESS IT MUST NOT BE IMPORTANT.

In the land of the free and the home of the brave we have freedom of thought! Unlike those Russians and those Chinese. American’s have freedom of the press.

WHAT’S IT TO YOU?

Ok. Tubularsock was sitting in his top floor corner office in his underground bunker over looking Washington, D.C. in Oakland, CA. and this thought floated through and with the agility of a stealth bomber I plucked it from the ethos.

What do YOU ……… an American citizen living in America ……. what do you have to do with bombing a Syrian?

Really. What has a Syrian done to YOU lately? What harm has a Syrian caused YOU?

In most cases only a handful of YOU have ever even seen a Syrian let alone talked with one.

So ………. would you blow one up?

I wouldn’t.

And when YOU start to think about it, how about an Iraqi? Or a Pakistani?

Just what have they done to you personally? Anything at all?

An Afghan? Would YOU leave your house today and go blow up an Afghan?

Do you have cause? Have you even met one in your travels?

And yet, we have killed hundreds of thousands of them. Men, women, and children.

But what has EVEN ONE done to you?

SO WHAT GIVES?

Can you actually say that YOU have a beef with a Syrian or an Afghan? How about a Pakistani? How about an Iranian?

SO WHAT GIVES?

YOU don’t have a beef with them, YOU don’t even know one.

So why are we so accepting with bombing them?

Tubularsock is still trying to grok why we “had to” kill so many Vietnamese?

Bombing their homes, killing their water buffalo, Agent Orange-ing their jungle, napalming their families.

FOR WHAT?

I personally have never had a beef with a Vietnamese, EVER!

SO WHAT GIVES?

Syria has never attacked the United States.

Vietnam has never attacked the United States.

Iran has never attacked the United States.

Pakistan has never attacked the United States.

Iraq has never attacked the United States.

Afghanistan has never attacked the United States.

YET ……… THE UNITED STATES HAS ATTACKED EACH OF THEM!

Do you notice some kind of a pattern here?

THINK ABOUT IT ………..

Kerry:tube heading

Ok. Let Tubularsock get this straight, “THIS international norm cannot be violated without consequences,” stated John Kerry. Now is this really real or is this some type of Onion satire.

The United States has just about broken every international norm that there is in the past fifty years and still John Kerry can stand and with a straight face and perfectly groomed hair tell the world that there must be consequences for the use of large-scale chemical weapons attacks.

Well, Tubularsock couldn’t agree more. Finally John Kerry is going to hold the United States responsible for its large-scale use of Agent Orange in Vietnam. The U.S. saturated that land with that deadly chemical and caused hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese CIVILIAN deaths and birth defects and ruined the farm land.

Agent Orange even caused death and disease within the American military with continued health issues to this day.

Wow! John Kerry is something. Do you think we will detain and arrest the CEO and the Board of Directors of Monsanto? How many Air Force generals will be detained? Wow. This is going to be big!

And gosh, now that we are on a roll I’ll bet John Kerry will follow up on the use of depleted uranium, the chemical element of Atomic number 92, a dense radioactive metal used in weapons that the U.S. has used in Afghanistan and Iraq. And even though we all know that EVER surgical strike placed in those countries missed every civilian, John will investigate and hold those in the Bush and Obombmer administration to the letter of INTERNATIONAL NORMS.

Golly gee! And the use of NAPALM will be ended by John as well. That is a chemical product that has been widely used by the American military. Do we have enough prison space in the Prison-Industrial-Complex to house all of these guys?

Not-to-worry, not-to-worry. With all of that American exceptionalism we are up to the task in order to bring ourselves up to INTERNATIONAL NORMS!

Now you have to admit that John can only do so much. It will take some other great governmental official to bring America up to International Norms around torture, attacking nations that haven’t attacked us, and droning the world at leisure. Hmmm, I wonder what Henry Kissinger is doing in his spare time?

xplow copy

OYG …….. Tubularsock has wandered off track.

John Kerry the Secretary of State wasn’t talking about the American Government’s role in chemical weapons but Syria!

Now just how did Tubularsock get so far afield?

“The indiscriminate slaughter of civilians, the killing of women and children and innocent bystanders by chemical weapons is a moral obscenity. By any standard, it is inexcusable and — despite the excuses and equivocations that some have manufactured — it is undeniable”. (John Kerry)

Of course. Droning a wedding party, poisoning a nation, or contaminating a population is not a “moral obscenity”. It is saving a people from themselves.

Fuck you John Kerry! You are a piece of work.

TubeWHcamera

Well today Tubularsock was sitting and thinking. If I was a lawyer and Obummer came to me and ask me to put together a legal justification of his drone program based on law, how would I do that.

What law could I find that would give the U.S. the authority to fly over the air space of any country (with or without their permission) and blow anyone to bits without those pesky other laws about due process, trial by jury, innocent until proven guilty ……. you know, those laws that make us a nation based on laws and not based on the whims of men. Kind of like being civilized rather than barbaric.

Now I could go to international law as my base but what set of laws, that nations have signed and agreed to, fit being able to fly over the air space of any country (with or without their permission) and blow anyone to bits?

Well without an ACT OF WAR there aren’t any. Now within the “RULES OF WAR” there are guidelines for flying over the air space of a country that has already attacked  our country and blow anyone to bits but even there there must be actions taken to avoid civilian causalities (collateral damage). Like we really care.

And in order to fly to that country and bomb the hell out of them we have to get permission from any country that we have to fly over so we can pass through their air space to bomb our new enemy.

So maybe following U.S. law could be the base to work from so as to fly over the air space of any country (with or without their permission) and blow anyone to bits. Let me see here …………  well by jove, there is not a single one. DAMN CIVILIZED OF US! Don’t you think?

Well maybe Biblical Law. And I’ll focus on the Old Testament. Those bastards loved slaughtering each other with great zeal. Maybe like …….. an eye for an eye …….. nope!

To base having the authority to fly over the air space of any country (with or without their permission) and blow anyone to bits the person you are blowing to bits FIRST has to take your eye THEN you take his eye. You can’t take his eye unless you can justify he has done it to you!

But don’t you even fret for one second. Tubularsock has an inside track. Obummer wouldn’t hire Tubularsock the lawyer if he didn’t think I could pull it out of the hat.

I would call up my good friends Jay Bybee and John Yoo. Because when you have to pull law out a hat Bybee and Yoo have the ability to pull it straight out of their ASSES!

You remember Jay & John ………. they came up with the new legal INTERPRETATION

which by changing the name torture to enhanced-interrogation all’s good!

So …………….

My job is over  ………

Legal interpretation:  it doesn’t exist because there are no laws for it

Now I turn it over to the White House Public Relations Department (WHPRD).

They create the words to explain the Legal INTERPRETATION.

Then they hand it over to James Clapper, the Director of the U.S. Intelligence to explain the new INTERPRETATION in  James Clapper’s “least untruthful” terms.

And finally, Obummer gives his speech on how transparent the entire process is and all the necessary legal checks and balances are in place for our safety so we can fly over the air space of any country (with or without their permission) and blow anyone to bits.

Wow! Now we are safe.

Anyone for golf?
